The Development Of Ecological Micro-expression Recognition Measurement And Recognition Differences Among Micro-expressions

Micro-expression refers to the brief expression which usually lasts for1/25-1/5 s (Ekman & Friesen,1974),It expresses the pent-up emotions. The difficulty of recognition among different Micro-expressions recognition varied with the change of the emotion types, The ability of Micro-expression recognition was also significantly different among different groups of people.Micro-expressions is an important study aspect in the field of emotion.There’re molding Micro-expression recognizing and training tools abroad, Abundant achievements had been made in a variety of areas, but there’s few studies of micro-expression in the domestic, this study refers to foreign research paradigm in micro expression recognition,And gives a new train of thought with the perspective of ecology-A micro- expression recognition test with synthetically considering of all kinds of the emotional background. We choose seven expressions (Neutral, Anger, Disgust, Fear, Happy, Sad, Surprise) as background, Six micro-expressions (anger, disgust, fear, pleasure, sadness, disgust) as target expression. This very study is called the ecological paradigm. There’re 84 subjects (male-female) participating in the experiment,They also need to fill out the Big Five Personality Openess and Beck Depression Inventory. Finally,We discussed the reliability and validity of the new measuring tool, At the same time, We compared the differences of recognition between different sex, different personality styles and emotional states. Also, The influence of emotional background and the recognition difference among different types of micro expression were considered.At last,we found that:First, the new Ecological Micro-expressions Measuring Tool has a good reliability and validity.Second, there’s no gender differences on Micro -expression recognition, a higher recognition ability will be existed if the group has a more open personality, no direct relationship between the micro expression recognition and the emotion state is foundedThird, There exsists a practice effect in micro expression recognition,with a duration of at least 2 to 3 weeks.Fourth, in the six basic emotions (happy, anger, disgust, fear, sadness, and surprise) of the micro-expression, happy emotion is the most easily recognized, followed by surprise, fear is the most difficult micro-expression to recognize.Fifth, the effect of background on micro-expression varied, it cannot be said in general that positive background or negative background will improve or damage the recognize of a micro expression.
