Wireless Sensor Networks is integrated with the technologies of sensor, data gathering and wireless communication, which deployed in severe environment to sense and collect information, the information is routed from sensors node to sink node hop-by-hop. The sink node which acts as a gateway of the sensor network is the bridge between sensor network and outside. Since sink node is the most important node in the network, how to protect the privacy of sink is a significant research area.Since the nature of sensor network, it is easy for an adversary to trace the movement of packets and get the sink location. Many ways have been proposed to deal with this problem, the main idea of these ways is provide path diversity, which means increase the fake paths so that adversary cannot distinguishes the right paths. Methods above can resist packet tracing to some degree, however, they also propose some direction information. Taking advantage of the direction information, adversaries can distinguish the real paths when they meet multi-paths, we call this attack mode as direction attack. In this paper, we study the direction attack in depth and this attack has theoretically and experimentally investigated that it has large threat for sink location. To cope with the direction attack, we present an scheme based on injecting fake packets and random walk of real packets. In this scheme, real packets routed along the shortest paths and do a random walk in some special phase, fake packets are injected in intersection nodes of two or more shortest paths. Since the random walk and fake packet injection, the direction information become useless and lead adversaries to fake paths. Privacy analysis shows that our scheme has a good performance on protecting the sink location. We also examine the delivery time, energy consumption and safe time by simulations, and compared to other methods, our method has low delivery time and high safe time.
