Fingerprint recognition as a kind of biological recognition technology is widely used in personal identity authentication, electronic commerce, network access control and network security certification and other fields. Fingerprint as the unique features of human body, has the characteristics of complex, identification and reliable structure, high identification accuracy, easy collection, convenient use and low cost, etc. At present, the research of fingerprint identification technology has made much important research results, but there are still many problems waiting to be solved, Such as how to further improve the accuracy of fingerprint identification, reliability and safety, etc. Fingerprint recognition technology research will short for a long time as a hot research topic.This paper first discusses the structure and physiological characteristics, research status of fingerprint identification technology, the fingerprint identification system and the principles of the recognition process etc. Secondly it makes a research on the algorithm of fingerprint image processing recognition. The research focused on the process of the fingerprint image recognition preprocessing algorithm. Through the establishment of relevant physical model and mathematical model of fingerprint image preprocessing, the fingerprint image distortion correction. At the same time the article study several common image segmentation algorithms and compare their advantages and disadvantages. Based on the combination of image field knowledge and using the fractal dimension of fingerprint image segmentation, better segmentation results have been achieved. Then the fingerprint image segmentation results are balanced and converged and implementation of fingerprint image enhanced intelligent. Then smoothing, binarization and Fingerprint ridge refinement the enhanced fingerprint image. Based on the fingerprint image preprocessing and through the fingerprint feature extraction algorithm for fingerprint endpoint, fork point, center and triangle points are marked in the image. Above mentioned fingerprint image preprocessing algorithm, the article finally using VC programming, designed and implemented a fingerprint image preprocessing and feature extraction experiment system.Research and experimental results show that the related fingerprint image preprocessing algorithm and experiment system are given in this paper can well accomplish fingerprint image preprocessing, has reached the requirement of fingerprint image preprocessing, relatively real reduction to the fingerprint image processing result, for the final fingerprint identification laid a good foundation.
