Design Of Switch Port Circuit Based On FC-AE Protocol

With the rapid development of the Internet, the Internet traffic showed the explosive growth. The traditional storage model couldn’t meet the need to store and access the data efficiently, the emergence of Fibre Channel technology brought a solution for this problem.As the core equipment of SAN(Storage Area Network), the Fibre Channel switch has advantages of high reliability, high throughput and real-time performance. The ports of switch can build the underlying channels for FC switch to transfer data, and they have two main functions: the first is sending or receiving data, maintaining the stability of the link. The other is providing frame and information of matching for the switch module.This paper aims to design a kind of switch port circuit based on FC-AE protocol through the research of FC-AE protocol. This paper Firstly discusses the background, research status, significance of Fibre Channel and represents the protocol level, network topology, types of service and other key elements of Fibre Channel.According to the function what the project aims to achieve, this paper proposes the overall architecture and design idea. The circuit which includes transceiver, sending channel, receiving channel, port state machine, flow control management and route lookup can achieve the function of FC-0, FC-1 and FC-2P.By comparing the advantages and disadvantages of several different algorithms and considering the future trends, CAM becomes the way to achieve the function of route lookup. By comparing of the advantages and disadvantages of different implementations of CAM, this project which lacks of storage resources ultimately use shift register to implement CAM.At last this paper processes the simulation of the whole design and each module, builds the test platform with switch module to test the function of switch port circuit.
