Automatic repository can improve the sample storage capacity in the case of same space,reduce the work intensity of take or place the specimen,and improve the retrieval efficiency of specimens as well as realize the digital management of animal and plant specimens. The main content of this paper is to establish a complete set of automatic animal and plant repository management control system.This thesis has three main design assignment. The first part is to build the hardware system, including computer, USB/RS232 converter, PLC, four sets of stepping motor and the stepper motor driver which matching it. The second part is to design the upper monitor control program, this paper uses Microsoft office Access to construct the digital specimen database. At the same time, using LabVIEW to compile PC control software, in order to realize the Access database sample data calling, Human-computer interaction and achieve lower position machine (PLC) control. The last part is to compile the PLC control program, so that it can receive the instructions of the upper monitor and then achieve the control of stepper motor, through transmission mechanism to achieve each degree of freedom of the robot moving, then putting in or taking out the sample from the insect cabinet.The design of the Automatic specimen database management control system has a strong practical value, it will improve the biological specimen’s retrieval efficiency of specimen database and other institutions. Reduce the work intensity of specimen database administrative staff, bring great convenience for the daily maintenance and use.
