Rearch On Testing Of SDN Northbound API

With the development of the Internet application, the traditional architecture of Internet hasn’t fulfilled people’s daily-increasing requirements. SDN (Software Defined Network) appears, and the core view point of SDN is to set control plane apart from data forwarding plane. Although there has been much research work on SDN recently, the study about SDN’s northbound is not so much, and the test work on the northbound interface of SDN is particularly little. API, is the important part of the application program, its quality has the direct relationship with the success of the function of software. Therefore, OpenDaylight controller is as the object of study, and some test work on the northbound API of SDN is studied. The main work is as follows:(1) Analyzing the research status about the northbound interface of SDN, the manifestation pattern related to the northbound API of OpenDaylight controller as well as the normal services which can be provided.(2) Analyzing the calling process with the respect to the northbound API of OpenDaylight controller, and making a description of it. Puting forward the basic abstract test purpose on the basis of the description. Finally, according to the test purpose to extract constraint condition and achieve the aim of depicting abstract test path.(3) Building the experimental platform based on the OpenDaylight controller and Mininet. Using RESTClient as the test execution tool and designing the test case exemplified with the specific service.(4) Exploring the APIs’extended mode and their testing work after finishing testing the northbound API of OpenDaylight controller.
