Information-Centric Networking(ICN) focuses on contents delivery,optimizes network traffic distribution via universal caching,and adopts specific location-independent naming mechanisms to improve the security of contents delivery.Software-Defined Networking(SDN)decouples the control functions from packet processing at individual network devices,and instead realizes them at a centralized controller,which enables efficient control of network routing and traffic based on a global view.Software-Defined Information-Centric Network(SDICN)achieves the technical advantages of the both SDN and ICN.while overcoming the limitations caused by clean-slate feature of ICN.This thesis designs and implements its core functional modules of an overlay-based SDICN architecture.The core functions of the SDICN architecture focused in this thesis include proxy cache node assignment,content supplying node selection and cache node.First,a hybrid approach is designed for proxy assignment,with which static assignment is specified to function based on network areas clients locate,and dynamic assignment works when a statically assigned proxy node is overloaded.This hybrid approach helps to balance cache nodes` workload.Second,the selection of content supplying node is developed to take into account both network status and sizes of contents requested.Third,the design of cache node supports both proactive and reactive caching strategies,and adopts Least Recently Used(LRU)cache update approach.Finally,a prototype of SDICN system is developed to integrate the above designs,in which controller is implemented based on ONOS,a common SDN controller platform,and cache node is realized based on Netty framework.In order to evaluate the designs proposed,a number of simulations are performed based on mininet.Function tests show the prototype system works as expected,and numerical results of cache hit ratio,response time,workload distribution,and maximum link utilization indicates the benefits of the designs proposed.
