The rapid development of digital technology today has brought forth a massive transformation in contemporary art, which is very likely to subvert our former visual experience. As the favorite of modern technology, virtual reality technology has constantly been accepted by the art market and has developed a series of relevant products. Technology forms the basis and acts as a media for art. Yet it also poses challenges to traditional art. OCULUS VR, as one of the ten 2016 virtual reality technology product, has been perfectly integrated with our mobile phones, making virtual reality accessible to people’s life. This subversive equipment with virtual reality technology would even, after years’of technical upgrading, change our way of work and our daily life. The symbolic forms and technological features of art are just like the two poles of a magnet, opposed and unified. The renewal of digital media will certainly bring forth the changes to each structural element in art. OCULUS VR has also, in comparison with the traditional digital media, stepped out of the restriction of the two-dimensional screen and restored a panoramic three-dimensional space, real and more immersive. In this special visual environment, different ways of wearing puts forth more demand for visual comfort. This thesis combines practice with theory and uses "form follows function" as its theoretical support. It aims to look into the pattern of comfort level under the virtual reality based head.mounted displays from the perspective of human ergonomico The thesis also analyses from two aspects the designed approaches that can meet visual laws and its comfort level under the special virtual reality environment.. First, the thesis analyses and summarizes the factors that affect the subject person’s binocular stereovision and the visual comfort level. Second, basing upon the conclusion of the first step, the thesis then combines theory with practice and experiments hone the visual designing of OCULUS VR’s panoramic stereo video. According to the legend analysis, the visual design approach under the special environment of virtual reality conforms to the binocular vision regulation and comfort level. Such conclusion has both the function of theoretical guidance for the visual design of panoramic stereo video and expansion of theoretical research space concerning the design of virtual reality visual. It also provides some scientific approach for visual design.
