As a very important part in the field of industrial measurement, the laser tracker measurement system is attracting more and more interests of researchers at home and abroad. It can efficiently measure the static or dynamic targets by means of combining high-precision laser ranging and precise angle measurement technology of theodolite, and determine the shape, size, distance and spatial location of objects. At present, the domestic use of laser tracker relies imports, so independently developing laser tracker measurement system is of great significance.In addition, the coordinate data acquired by laser tracker are mostly discrete, and can’t completely describe and analyze the measured object. Through the data visualization technology, these discrete data can be intuitively understood, manipulated and explored to quickly and accurately measure the target. Then it can find out the defects of the products in the design process and improve the level of product design and processing.The research in this paper is data processing and visualization technology aiming at selfdeveloped laser tracker measurement system. This paper firstly introduces the hardware composition and the basic measurement principle of the laser tracker, including coordinate measuring, angle measurement, distance measurement, etc. At the same time, many factors that may affect measurement accuracy in the process of measuring are analyzed in detail. Secondly this paper describes the basic methods of data preprocessing and unity between coordinate systems. It utilizes ADO Data control and Access database to achieve the storage and display of data. The method of least square fitting to the measured data of simple geometric figure and using NURBS interpolation algorithm to represent complex curve and surface is proposed. Also it sets forth the means of using MFC control to chart each index after data processing. The basic knowledge of VTK and visualization process are introduced, and 3D visualization of measurement data has been realized by using VTK. At last, the paper introduces the design ideas and main function of the self-developed laser tracker measurement system, and it has been well tested in actual measurement.
