With the continuous development of the computer science and technology, data visualization technology has become the development trend in the future, and the application of it will increase working efficiency in large scale. Data visualization technology has transferred from 2-dimensional visualization model to 3-dimensional visualization model, and the data can be fully presented to users. 3-dimensional visualization modeling technology has been widely used in every field, especially in the field of geological exploration. The application of 3-dimensional visualization modeling technology will not only increase working efficiency but also improve the data analytic capability. Researchers can conduct the prospector’s site work in order to enhance the precision and safety, and pre-estimate precisely the position and purity of mineral resources.The author refers to the visualization technology development in geological field at home and abroad, and utilize knowledge of computer graphics and geological exploration to develop the 3-dimensional visualization geological body information system. As a computer application, the thesis describes geological data and fundamental knowledge of geological exploration. The author makes brief introduction on technology contents of system design and system development, such as Qt development tools, Graphics View framework, signal and slot mechanism, Open GL VTK of Kitware. Under the Windows platform, utilize proper development tools, Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, and combine with document/view framework of Qt development tools.Three dimensional geological body visualization technology is used to develop the C/S architecture, this paper mainly focuses on the Client side of the introduction. at last design and implement 3-dimensional visualization geological body technology. 3-dimensional visualization geological body information system improves data visualization presentation, data compute, and space analysis. Furthermore, the thesis argues the visualization technologies, such as rendering, data filtering, space data processing, of which are functions of arbitrary plane cutting, 3-dimensional geological body explosion, wedge cutting, together with model and scale, direction and coordinate, surroundings and light, and so on. The thesis argues the 3-dimensional visualization geological body information system in detail on requirement analysis, system design, system visualization realization.The geological body visualization mainly is presented by 2-dimension, some are in the initial stage of imitation 3-dimension, and the real 3-dimension geological body visualization presentation has not refined. VTK Open GL, adopted in the system, has not been widely applied, but VTK is characterized with open-source, expansibility, customizability. The thesis, focusing on the real 3-dimension presentation and the format alternation of the geological body data, argues the research and realization of the geological model visualization technology. At last, computer science will provide a feasibility plan for the geological body modeling.
