With the rapid development of society and economics, the safety monitoring issue of infrastructure such as petroleum and natural gas pipeline, various communication wires and cables, border safeguard, and security system of residential community became a research focus. In recent years, accidents like pipeline leak, cable stealing and illegal encroachment resulted from illegal construction, natural disaster and human-caused destruction caused great loss to the nation and its people, and brought huge threat to the people’s life security and living environment. As a result, it is of great research value and practical significance to timely discover and effectively locate all kinds of illegal intrusion targeting cables, pipes and security systems.This paper employed wavelet packet denoising algorithm and adaptive filtering delay estimation locating algorithm based on the third-order statistics, and applied them in the distributed optical fiber sensing network locating system, achieving satisfactory result. In this paper, four aspects of work was primarily done:(1) On the basis of in-depth description of distributed optical fiber sensing network locating system, the de-noising effect of wavelet packet denoising algorithm on the non-stationary signals in optical fiber sensing network locating system is thoroughly analyzed. It turned out that the information characteristics is retained as the noisy is effectively eliminated.(2) In the process of climbing, the extraction of effective data segments is of great significance. In this paper, the zero-crossing rate is chosen as the characteristic physics quantity to extract effective data segment. This method could not only accurately reflect the spectral characteristic of the signal, but also has the advantage of easy calculation, small amount of calculation.(3) Use third-order statistics and the method of adaptive filtering time delay estimation to eliminate and decrease the interference of gaussian spatially correlated noise and achieved satisfactory effect.(4) Designed and completed the programming of several modules through the Lab VIEW and Matlab experiment platform and further perfect, provides the technical support and software foundation for the further perfect on distributed optical fiber sensor network positioning system.
