With the continuous development of embedded technology and image processing technology, combined with the two techniques and take the advantages of network technology, based on the embedded video capture and processing has been widespread concern and its application has gradually appeared in various fields. A lot of problems in traditional video capture application processing exposed, such as heavy acquisition devices, high development costs and difficulty operation. All these problems spurred us to search a relatively inexpensive, easy operation and development platform to achieve the video acquisition and processing. Compared with traditional video capture technology, embedded video capture has advantages-more reliable, stable and adaptable. So, how to achieve video acquisition and processing that based on embedded development platform has become a hot research fields of the development of embedded technology, of course, you should ensure the system’s real-time and reliability meanwhile.Combined embedded technology and image processing technology in this paper, a Linux-based video acquisition and sending system which is based on embedded of Linux is achieved. The system uses embedded ARM chip S3C2440 as the core processor to capture video information with USB camera, then it is displayed the collected video information synchronously on the LCD display screen connected on the embedded development board. The collected information is sent to the remote clients with wired/wireless way through the network, ensuring the real-time and quality. At the same time, the video information is stored in hard disk which is connected to ARM with AVI format to facilitate the latter part of the video processing. A remote client designed with embedded WEB technology implements access control of the remote system by logging into the control interface of client. The system has functions of video capture, display, storage and remote sending. It is easy to be placed and good portability and scalability.According to background, the article uses embedded ARM as the core processor firstly, then it divides functions, analyzes and introduces required correlation technique from the overall performance of the system. We design the peripheral circuits, build embedded software and hardware development platform and configure the environment next. It designs each module and achieves the overall function of the system finally.
