Image image is the most important carrier of information, and image segmentation is the key step of image processing to image analysis. Because the edge is the most basic feature of an image, edge extraction is of importance in computer vision, image analysis and so on. It is an important part of image analysis and recognition, and contour extraction is one of the main methods of image analysis and pattern recognition.Contour detection is an important feature of image segmentation, and is also the basis of important information source and shape feature of texture feature. The main contents of this paper are three aspects:the traditional "worm", "classical eight neighborhood tracing algorithm" and other boundary tracing schemes, but some are too complex, the calculation is large, tracking is easy to "get lost". This paper proposes an improved boundary tracing scheme based on the classical eight neighborhood boundary tracing scheme. The two kinds of schemes are studied: Freeman chain code and vertex chain code. Based on the Freeman chain code, the improved compression chain code is proposed, which is based on the Freeman chain code. The algorithm is presented for the four kinds of chain codes. Finally, the target contour information is extracted by Freeman chain code and the vertex chain code based on the improved eight neighborhood boundary tracking algorithm.
