Researching On The Contour And Edge Detection Basied On Contrast Analysis And Mean Absolute Method Improved By Susan Edge Detection

Digital image edge and contour detection plays an important role in image analysis, such as image segmentation, region recognition and region shape extraction. And it's an important method in image feature extraction of image recognition. The edge includes the valuable information of the image which can be used in image understanding and analysis. And through edge detection, we can greatly reduce the calculation of image analysis and processing in the following step. Usually, the first the first step of image understanding and analysis is edge detection and it has been the active topic in the machine vision research field, and it plays an important part in engineering application.In this paper we do a deep research on Susan edge detection, we propose two new methods-contrast analysis method and absolute average method according the contrast on the basic of the research results we have got. And we did a lot tests with many images in MATLAB. through the results, we can conclude that the two methods are simple and greatly effective, so they are great and practical methods.
