With the rapid development of Internet, communication network have gone from traditional wired network to wireless network. As the Wi-Fi technology matures, a great number of Wi-Fi device have sprung up in the market, therefore the demand for Wireless Local Area Networks is also growing. Wireless access is achieved through the access points in the WLAN system. Expanding the coverage of wireless network needs to deploy scores of APs. But how to deploy APs quickly? How to centrally manage lots of APs in effect by AC? This is the problem discussed in this paper.Today, people generally achieve centralized management by AP group. Adding some APs into one group and setting configuration for the AP group to distribute the configuration to all the APs in it. However, this management sometimes may tend to be very tedious. When user wants to set different management strategies for different zone, such as library, teaching building, dormitory and so on, the AP group shows great limitation, because the user can only set up each AP’s group one by one manually to achieve centralized management. So this paper proposes a method, auto grouping APs by AP’s network, which can let people centrally manage APs according to zone easily based on the old AP group. This paper firstly introduces the project’s background, conception, research idea and domestic and overseas status. Secondly, the paper makes a detail analysis to the demand for each module of the AP Group management functionality based on IPv4 network segment. Thirdly, the functionality is designed and implemented carefully. At last, the unit test and system test are made for the system, and the result shows the correctness and avaliability of the system. Finally, the work of this paper are summarized and discussed.
