Study On Method And Technology Of Evolution For TTCN Software

With the changing of the software requirements, the cost of software maintenance is increasing. As one of the main means of software maintenance, the evolution of software reliability technology is the key to reduce the maintenance cost. Not only it can implement the evolution of the software, but also it meets the goals of software system reliability in the evolution process.TTCN (Test and Testing Control Notation, TTCN for short)test technology is the industry technical standards issued by the International Standardization Organization. Because of the scalable architecture of TTCN adapter, the developers can continuously adding adapter and codec to system under test.However, the adapter and codec of our laboratory developed has a high level of coupling to the TTCN test system. It will be difficult to the system scalability that you have to redevelop the adapter and codec. The process of development, maintenance and evolution that often changes the original test suit. Then the original codec and adapter may no longer applicable. At this point, the developers need to redevelop based on the new test suit. When using TTCN software, codec and adapter is indispensable.In particular,each test suit has an codec and adapter that corresponds to that test suit. Software testing needs a lot of test suit. So the work of codec and adapter developing takes a big part of software test.In allusion to the problems mentioned above, this article used the technology of software evolution to implement reliable adapter of TTCN test suit. It can improve the scalability of test system.This topic proposed a evolution method according to the test suit of the system under test for the codec and adapter, to achieve the TTCN software evolution.The method of codec and adapter evolution needs to analyze the test data and the communication protocol. After making the evolution of codec and adapter can continue to test the changed software. The method will expand the TTCN software function and improve test efficiency. Experiments show that the method is feasible and have has good results.
