With the enhancement of network technology, people’s lives are connected together.. The dual property of IP address is one of main reasons that cause issues of security, routing table expansion. The emergence of Universal Identifier Networks provides theoretical foundation and practical methods for solving these issues.The architecture of Universal Identifier Networks realize connection with current networks, separate the identity and location information from identifier address. Thus address space is separated into two parts, the access network space and the core network space. The routing identifier of core network space represents location information of identifier address and is used for routing in core network. The routing identifier is an important element of providing network services for users in access networks. In order to supply network services which meet users’demand properly, it is necessary to design a managing and allocating mechanism for routing identifiers. This paper regards routing identifier pools as basic controlling unit in terms of managing routing identifiers, proposing a routing identifier pool and mapping information updating mechanism for identifier-based universal network. Routing identifier pools and service demands of users in access networks are connected. According to changes of core networks and users, the mechanism adjust allocation and updating of routing identifier pools, and spread the updating information to the whole network system, in order to meet users’ demands of network service and guarantee the quality of communication.Firstly, this paper summarizes the system architecture of Identifier-location Separation Network, introduces related technology. Then this paper proposes a routing identifier pool and mapping information updating mechanism, describes the operation of updating routing identifier pools, updating scenarios and related updating modules. This paper realizes each module of such mechanism and tests their functions, including operation of ASR routing identifier pools updating module, IDMS routing identifier pools updating module, and release of routing identifier in mapping information updating module. The result indicates such mechanism can serve Identifier-location Separation Network System well. At last, the sixth chapter gives a summary of the whole work and proposes suggestions for further study work.
