With the popularization and evolution of information technology, more and more information systems are used in every aspect of our lives. With that, mass of information data is being accumulated constantly. The accumulated data contains affluent information treasures:personal information, consumption habits information, purchasing power information and so on. But the affluent information treasures are not obvious. It requires that people need to extract them from the accumulated information data through scientific methods, and process them to be a stable data model with excellent methodology. Then present them by intelligence analysis tools to the people who need them. Therefore, efficient and accurate model data becomes the most powerful weapon for the companies to win the advantage in competition.So, for those companies who want to win the advantage in competition by using big data, the data warehouse is the best choice. In reality, although a lot of companies spent mass human and material resources, but still can’t get the expected reward. One of the problem is the data model of data warehouse don’t consolidate with real data, including consolidation of business model, the performance of data warehouse and so on. These issues are also the focus of the data warehouse vendors.The article focuses on Teradata Retail Data Model in order to solve the above problems. Teradata Retail Data Model is an integrated, cross-functional model that provides an enterprise-wide view of data. It’s a comprehensive, flexible blueprint of how your data is organized and provides structure that allows you to manage your information. Form the build of the Logical Data Model methodology, it describes the process of Logical Data Model, and establish procedures & methods based on the Physical Data Model. It summarizes in the model building process must comply with the rules and offers the plan to solve performance issues during the process of building a Physical Data Model in this article. From different view to optimize the Physical Data Model by research, summarizes some optimization methods, and achieved good results. At last, a successful case using Teradata Retail Data Model to share with you.
