CC3200 is a wireless Wi-Fi MCU presented by Texas Instrument Inc. in 2014, it is the first product in the industry that integrated MCU and Wi-Fi transceiver in a single chip. CC3200 wireless Wi-Fi MCU not only inherits highly efficient controlling ability from Cortex-M4 core, but also possesses powerful Wi-Fi wireless communitcation function in the same time. The designing target of this chip is to replace the application of traditional module that consists of MCU and Wi-Fi transceiver in the field of IoT and Smart Home.CC3200 wireless Wi-Fi MCU internally integrates various peripheral interface modules like GPIO, UART, ADC, PWM, I2 C, I2 S, SPI, SDHC and a parellell camera interface module. There is few studying and learning materials at present due to the late release of the CC3200 chip in the first half of year 2014.This research concludes internal storage images and pin functionalities of the CC3200 wireless Wi-Fi MCU, designs and tests the minimum hardware system of CC3200. A sets of designing rules of low level driver component are introduced, based on the component-based embedded system software designing idea. Meanwhile, guided by these designing rules, some common used peripheral driver components of CC3200 are also implemented and tested.In order to implement Wi-Fi wireless communication, this research analyzes the SimpleLink network drivers integrated in CC3200, does some secondary encapsulation with part of the APIs of the network driver to achieve some common used Wi-Fi communication functionalities. This research ports MQXLite RTOS to CC3200, illustrates the porting process and conducts porting test, offering a reference for the application of RTOS in CC3200.In the end, on the basis of the studies in this paper, a Wi-Fi based wireless image acquisition device based on CC3200 and MT9D111 camera is designed as the application example of CC3200. This device interacts with user through web page in the internal HTTP server, uses MQXLite to schedule the tasks, achieves Wi-Fi communication by using secondary encapsulated SimpleLink network drivers, and implements wireless image acquisition and display.
