The Design And Implementation Of The Academic Management System For Oxbridge College,KMUST

With the development of the computer technology and our country’ higher education, the independent colleges also have the chances to increase their students’ scale, so does Oxbridge College, KMUST. When the independent colleges have small scale of students, the staffs of the academic department used to collect, arrange and process all kinds of data by themselves artificially and it seemed very easy for them to do it, but with the increase of the numbers of students and teachers, the disadvantages of doing these work artificially became more and more prominent. While with the help of computers, the relative information will be very clear, it not only reduces the pressure of the staffs to some extent, but also has the important meanings to optimize teaching management and raise the work efficiency.The main research and design contents of the paper is to utilize the computer software to realize the management of school census, scores, courses and examinations. Utilizing the computer system to replace the artificial arrangement, rising the efficiency of arrangement, so that, the staffs of the academic department can extricate from the academic work which is heavy and difficult. It will raise the staffs work efficiency and standardize the teaching management by the same time.For the academic management system, it is a comprehensive multi-module information management system which facing to the all departments of the college and the users of different levels. It includes the public information maintenance, students management, teachers management, teaching schedule management, intelligent class scheduling, examination management, course selection management, scores management, textbook management, practice management, toll administration, teaching quality evaluation, graduation management, RE management and many other modules. It can satisfy the management requirement from enrollment to graduation and other academic management steps. In the first part, the paper analyzes the problems about academic management system home and abroad, generalizes the problems which the system needs to solve, the main contribution of this paper, the text of the organizational structure and introduce the related to the technical support. The paper use UML as the analyze and design language, combine with SQL Sever 2000 system design, realize an academic management system which includes B/S structure and C/S structure. The second part is requirement analysis, mainly describes the functional requirements and non-functional requirements of the academic management system from requirement analysis. The third part is the system architecture general design of the academic management system, mainly describes the design aims and principles of the systems, system technical architectural design and module architecture. The fourth part is the detail design and realization of the academic management system. According to the requirement analysis, design the system architecture and database structure of the system. The fifth part focus on the functions which the system requires to realize, design the workflow of each module. The last part is summary and outlook, summarized the work that the paper has done, the problems need to be solved next step and the development of the system in the future.
