Design And Implementation Of Examination Management System In Guangdong University Of Petrochemical Technology

In university, examination is an important part of teaching process. It can not only test students’ learning effect but also evaluate teachers teaching quality. However, with the large-scale enrollment expansion of colleges and universities, the inefficient and the error-prone manual approach no longer adapts to the so important examination management work. For many colleges and universities, using computer technology to develop a system that can implement the examination management automation, become the main stream direction of informatization construction now.Since its establishment, the Guangdong University of Petrochemical Technology(GUPT) has used manual way to arrange examination. The department of examination started preparing for exam arrangements of common courses from each semester midterm, then issued to the educational administrators in university colleges and departments to arrange the specialized course exams. If there are any errors the educational administrators need to coordinate again and again. The whole exam arrangement is usually finished until two weeks before the final exam. The work period is too long. After the completion of the exam arrangement, some educational administrators still adopt the traditional bulletin boards to release the exam information. In recent years, with the development of the office network, they have chosen to upload the exam and invigilation arrangements to the college website for everyone downloading at all times more and more. However once the exam information is updated, the educational administrators will cancel the original and republish a new one, also phone the related personnel. The workload has increased a lot virtually. Coupled with the rapid expansion of the number of students, the workload of the examination arrangement showed explosive growth. Therefore, the GUPT is very urgent to have own examination management system.From the above situation of the examination management in the GUPT, according to the characteristics of the examination management work in the GUPT, I use B/S mode to develop an examination management system. The main function of the system includes the following:(1) The realization of the examination information input and condition setting function;(2) The realization of the examination automatic rendering function;(3) The realization of the examination arrangement manually adjusting function;(4) The realization of the examination information query and output function for the different permissions users.Next, this paper introduces the design thought of the system realizing the above function, including the system overall structure design, system function design, performance design and database design, etc. And it expounds the process of system implementation in details. After the basic completion of the system, it also discusses the testing phase of the system, and I make a series of strict tests including unit test, integration test and system test. The last, I summarized this thesis and gave some suggestions for the system improvement.By developing and running the system, I deeply feel the charm of computer technology. It provides convenience so much for teaching management in the GUPT, also make the examination management personnel relief from the tedious work.
