Virtual Reality is a comprehensive information technology which is developed in recent years. It can use computers to generate realistic virtual scenes and achieve man-machine interactive functions. This advantage makes the virtual reality technology to be widely applied in many aspects, virtual roaming is an important part of it.The purpose of this paper is to apply virtual reality into the protection and promotion of the cultural heritage, allowing users to understand the whole picture of Zhenjiang inscriptions Museum through the network, and accelerating the development of Jiaoshan inscriptions Museum, so as to promote the rapid development of Zhenjiang tourism.This article is based on the technology of virtual reality,use 3dsmax software,finished the design and production of Jiaoshan inscriptions Museum roaming system.This system is designed by virtual scene modeling technology and virtual roaming technology, the former is taking use of the modeling software to establish a basic model of a virtual scene, and the latter is taking use of the virtual reality software to enables the user to control the autonomous role in the smooth running of the roaming scene.This system completed the 3D modeling of various objects in Jiaoshan inscriptions Museum. The System achieved two ways of the roaming, one is fixed path, and the other is interactive roaming, at the same time, the system also realized the collision detection and a small map to navigate. In addition, this paper also optimized for virtual scene. In the fixed path, it achieved smoothing the path curves. This article uses hermite cubic spline to draw the discrete target point into a Smooth curve. When we move the discrete points, we can interactively modify the shape of the curve. In the interactive roaming, this paper has optimized the A* pathfinding algorithm, used binary heap processing data, on this basis, this paper do a further optimization on the A* pathfinding algorithm.After the optimization of this article, when the target is an obstacle, pathfinder can reach the nearest place from obstructions.To deal with the texture mapping of the JiaoShan Inscriptions, this paper presents a method of dynamic replacement textures, which has not only ensured the texture clear but also reduced the complexity of the model.Through above design can realize the complete JiaoShan inscriptions virtual museum,users can feel the JiaoShan scenery more intuitive and convenient also can enrich the research of VR technology in the museum system provide convenience for the later research. So this work has great practicability and reference value.
