Today the majority of the new generation of mobile satellite communications systems support GMR-1 3G(GMR, Geostationary earth orbit Mobile Radio interface). The standard was released by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute ETSI(European Telecommunications Standards Institute) mobile communications satellites in geosynchronous orbit over the air interface specification, GMR-1 evolved from GSM(Global System for Mobile communication) standard based communication system. GMR-1 3G communication systems provide 3G mobile communication services based on geostationary satellite. And how to ensure the control of the communication process to deal effectively and reliably with transmit signaling is an important issue in the whole system research.Compared with the previous release version of GMR-1, the function of the third layer air interface protocol RRC(Radio Resource Control) has a great change. Control and management functions are mainly concentrated in the RRC layer, state control and connection status stipulated in the agreement has also undergone a corresponding change. This article about GMR communication system RRC layer protocol software design and implementation is solved base on the above problems, attached with the entire GMR-1 3G protocol stack software, and finally complete the main function of RRC layer, i.e. effective conduction of control signaling in communication.This article is based on GMR-1 3G standard base station side air interface protocol, after an understanding of the overall agreement, carry out a detailed analysis and research on RRC layer protocol, and thendesigning and codingto the implements of the functions of the RRC layer processing on the control message in the protocol. The implementation process is based on Workbench integrated development environment of the Vx Works real-time operating system and C language to write and compile the code and use the AM4140 board base d on the Vx Works real-time operating system to complete the RRC function of the system for functional and consistency verification.The RRC layer system architecture designed in this paper based on the Vx Works operating system and C language, well complete d and peer from the layers of control messages, requests and other events are handled RRC layer, and other events to achieve a one-time allocation of resources in the process control RRC process from different RRC process. By the joint test of terminals and the core network, terminal access and communication control messages are all able to carry out normal processing.
