With the continuously expanding of the wireless communication technology, the embedded technology and the distributed computing technology, wireless sensor network has been in the period of rapid development. It has found wide application in the field of environmental monitoring, intelligent home, medical care and so on. As the most significant and basal technology in the wireless sensor network, data collection has always been the research hotspot by scholars and research institute, in which timely and efficient collection of accurate data plays a direct role in the effects of the application above. Therefore, the research of efficient data collection technology produces positive effects on the development and application of the wireless sensor network.At present a great deal of research is being carried out towards the wireless sensor network data collection, some go in for increasing the energy efficiency, some work hard to reduce the delay of data collection while others try to increase the network lifetime. There are two classical schemes among the data collection methods, nearest sink nodes scheme and round robin scheme. The former collects rapidly but has short life while the latter just the other way, both cannot reach the goals simultaneously. Here comes the topic of this text, that’s researching and designing an algorithm so that balance the timely data collection with extending the service life.The main contribution of this paper to data collection in wireless network includes the following aspects:(1) Referring to the existed area partition method,it is possible to partition the sensing area in wireless sensor network and make symbolic representation, which can pave the way for designing the data collection algorithm in latter work.(2) According to the new concepts of sensing area partition, data pressure and hotspot, a new mechanism called Recourse-Arbitration-Response can be designed. It is used to select the proper destination sink node to transmit the data for the sensor nodes which are around the overloaded sink node, which do a lot good on relieving the data collection stress of the overloaded sink node.(3) Based on sensing area partition, Recourse-Arbitration-Response mechanism and other technologies, a new data collection algorithm can be designed to solve the two problems mentioned above in the traditional data collection technology.(4) Using network simulation tool to do a simulating experiment for comparing the algorithm in this text with the traditional algorithms, so that the superior performance of this algorithm in accelerating the speed of collecting data and both in delaying the lifecycle of network can be verified.
