Jilin province is located in the northeast region of the Chinese. The southeast of Jilin Province precipitation more, and western less. Caused by the drought occurred frequently in the western region, especially in the spring. Jilin province is the major grain producing areas, the drought has affected the local agricultural development and people’s production and lift, so the timely monitoring and prevention of drought is necessary.The paper is based on the MODIS data, use of remote sensing technology, establishment of the feature space, calculation of drought index, choice of drought model. This is of positive significance for the prevention and monitoring of the drought in Jilin Province.The main contents and conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)From the Geospatial Data Cloud to download and pretreatment the MODIS data, including the format conversion, geometric correction, image mosaic, projection transformation, mask processing etc.(2)Calculation of the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI), the Enhanced Vegetation Index(EVI) and the Land Surface Temperature(LST). The establishment of feature space, using the ENVI/IDL achieve dry and wet side of equation. The slope of dry side of equation is less than 0 and wet is more.(3) Calculation and comparing of the Temperature Normalization Vegetation Drought Index(TNDI) and the Temperature Enhanced Vegetation Drought Index(TEDI), TEDI is more suitable for the monitoring of Jilin Province.(4) Making the distribution map of the arid grade in Jilin Province, according to it: The arid grade enhanced gradually form the southeast to northwest of Jilin Province. The drought occurred in the central and western regions of Jilin Province, like Taonan and Zhenlai.(5) By rainfall data and evapotranspiration data to verify drought grade distribution in this Province, the actual data distribution and data distribution consistent, use of TEDI model for monitoring the drought in Jilin Province, has a certain reference value.
