More and more web services are deployed and run over the Internet and are managed and controlled in a decentralized way, in order to provide various and high-quality services for users. To satisfy various and continually evolving requirements, web services on Internet are expected to be autonomous to some extens, and aware of the situated environment and itself, therefore they can provide effective and efficient services.Based on the autonomous software model of web service, this thesis conducts researches on the service monitoring technologies and corresponding software tools. Our researches have obtained the following contributions.First, depending on the features of autonomous web service, we provide a web service situation model which describes the dynamic attributes of autonomous web service. This model includes three types of situation information: quality of service, service business status and service context. We provide approach to supporting the explicit definition and descritption of situation model.Second, we provide a number of key techniques to monitor and manage autonomous web service, including implementation model of service monitoring, adaptive monitoring technologies, and the storage and query of service situation information, in order to achieve effective and efficient service monitoring. For the implementation technique, we adopot Java Extention Management and Java Message Service technique to monitor and manage situation information of autonomous web service.Third, we design and implement the autonomous web service platforms and a number of software tools to support the development, deployment and monitoring of autonomous web service, therefore implement the encapsulation, cooperative access and management of autonomous web service. Finally, we design and implement a case of unidentified underwater object investigation, with which to show the feasibility and effective of our proposed approach.
