Founded in the year of 1968, Weekly Shonen Jump is the representative magazine of Japanese cartoon. Weekly Shonen Jump saw the prosperity of Janpanese cartoon publishing industry. Therefore, it has high research value. Cut from the perspective of editing and publishing, this article analysed the reasons of the publication success.“Friendship, fight and success” are three elements of this magazine. The three unique features of the theme are raising readers’ spirits, telling moving storties and making the readers laugh. The storties have the factors of traditional West-East culture. They are also full of authors’ imagination and unique manga language with a lot of characters. Weekly Shonen Jump has the unique features of editorial: Editors and authors work together.Editors have the responsibility to check the content of the stories. This magazine publishes series stories. The editors also aspire the original,the mass manga. The binding and layout of Weekly Shonen Jump is brief and clear. All of the unique features of editorial have made Weekly Shonen Jump becoming the top of the young manga magazine. There are lots of famous cartoonists in the magazine of Weekly Shonen Jump. The multi-author training method supplies the talented people making wonderful manga. This magazine is aim to the students of primary and middle school. With the theme of the manga becoming more, Weekly Shonen Jump has attracted the femal readers. Analysing the readers’ card, the relationship among the editors, the autor and the reader is becoming stronger. The management competence is unique compared with other magazines including the special distribution mode and the talented person system. It also uses fully the Tripe Sales Theory.With the boom of the digital publising, marketing strategies has changed a lot: Magazines are pubished first, separate editions are pubished later. Exporting the books’ copyright and publishing the electronic magazines are also new marketing strategies. The special marketing strategies strengthen this magazine’s brand. However,every coin has two sides. The sales of the magazine is too dependent on popular manga. New talent and the new works are very few. We should learn a lesson from the problems of Weekly Shonen Jump.This article makes a research of Weekly Shonen Jump in the respects of the history, reader and autor groups, content and editing features, marketing feature and the existing problems. Through the above study,I got the inspirations to the Chinese cartoon magazine. First, it is important to think highly to the content of the articles and strengthen the brand. Secondly, developing the habit of reading the cartoon can expand the potential market. Thirdly, we should make our effort to strengthen the editors’ work and change the distribution method of the magazine market. Moreover, stronger intellectual-property protection in China would help the cartoon figures.Finally, it is essential to make use of both government and private capital.
