With the rapid development of embedded system technology, control theory and digital communication technology, distributed control systems which are widely used in every field are typical applications resulting from high level and deep fusion of industrialization and informationization. They represent the advanced manufacture level of the country. However the distributed control system oriented automatic production line is featured with multiple slave devices, long transmission distance, strong mutual disturbance and little interrelation of every part. A new distributed control system that disperses the motor trajectory planning function from the main controller to every servo driver is designed and implemented which saves the resource of the main controller,improves the flexibility and expansibility of the system and reduce the cost of manufacture.At first, the development process and current research status of distributed control system is described. The developing trend is also prospected. Then the architecture of the distributed control system oriented automatic production line is proposed. After designing the software and hardware platforms of multi-axis controller, instruction set including the format and function library of every instruction is developed. As a result,the interpreter which is very important is realized. A motion control module is added to the reconfigurable servo drive utilizing the component technology so that the servo driver gains the ability of trajectory planning. After that, the format and function code of communication frame are set to guarantee reliable distributed control system communication based on Modbus protocol. Finally, the test experiment is conducted on the whole system. The rationality and validity are verified by the results.The distributed control system proposed in this paper transfers a part of function of the main controller to the field control unit. This type of function migration is the developing trend of device intellectualization and meets the need of the automatic production line.The paper provides a feasible scheme for research and development of the distributed control system oriented automatic production line.
