Middleware is computer software that provides services to software applications beyond those available from the operating system. It can be described as "software glue". Middleware makes it easier for software developers to perform communication and input/output, so that the developers can focus on the software functionalities of their application.Transaction middleware is a middleware platform used to manage distributed transaction processing in distributed computing environments. Transaction middleware is a transaction processing system or transaction-oriented middleware, or enterprise application server for a variety of systems and programming languages. Its core role is to ensure the consistency of the distributed computing environment transaction processing results and timely transaction response time, so that the whole system to achieve high throughput and achieve a large number of concurrent processing, 7 × 24 hours of uninterrupted operation.Distributed systems to improve scalability and maintainability. Transaction middleware improves the scalability and maintainability of distributed systems. The main criterion of transaction middleware is the X/Open Distributed Transaction Processing(DTP) model. DTP model is a software architecture that allows multiple application programs to share resources provided by multiple resource managers, and allows their work to be coordinated into global transactions. The point of the model is a two-phase commit protocol which ensures the integrity and concurrency of distributed transactions. This paper first describes the status and trends of transaction middleware, and then introduces DTP model and two-phase commit protocol, the final analysises of the advantages and disadvantages of the design and implementation of a distributed transaction.
