With the rapid development of IT technology, especially cloud computing in recent years, cloud storages and their services are expended actively by various storage companies. However, during the development of network storage, clear and systematical ways to grasp customer requirement, definite quantifications of customer requirement, effective management tools to optimize and enhance the R&D process and other shortcomings are often occurred in these companies.This thesis introduces the IDDOV model of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) to the development process of network storages, regarding customer requirements as the first orientation and accomplishing targets, and focusing on optimization of network storage performance. The entire development process is divided into five parts, identifying requirements, defining the relevant requirements, developing, optimizing, and verifying.Firstly, customer requirements are collected by the KANO model. Secondly, customer requirements are transferred to the quantified product design quality indicators by the QFD. Thirdly, the key risk factors of affecting storage performance are evaluated in the project development process by the FMEA. Fourthly, high-speed signal is optimized to develop through simulation mode, and optimization scheme is confirmed through sample verification by DFSS robust design ideas. Lastly, the robustness and reliability of system storage is verified by the vibration platform environment test.Through the effective application of DFSS to R&D process of the network storage, the ability of the data access and the reliability of data storage of product have been optimized. A systematic solution and an improved platform have been provided to solve the similar problems and develop other storage projects.
