Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN, wireless sensor network) is a plurality of small volume, low-cost distributed sensor data collection network node via single or multi-hop routing. After years of development, WSN is changing every aspect of our lives. However, how to effectively carry out the data collection is still worthy.An effective data collection to reduce energy consumption and improve the efficiency is clustering. Selection and performance clustering can affect network coverage and connectivity. Due to the affection of routing, congestion control and the upper layer protocol, it belongs to the support technology in WSN. A good clustering algorithm will effectively reduce the energy consumption of WSN and prolong the survival time, optimize the network topology and improve the reliability.This paper briefly outlines the advantages and disadvantages of the traditional clustering algorithms, describes the research status of clustering algorithms, and comes out an improved approach for a cluster structure network.Based on a certain cluster structure network, a clustering algorithm using betweenness is proposed. It uses betweenness to clustering the nodes; according to the number of nodes’ degree, cluster head is selected. Experiments show that the algorithm can effectively prolong network lifetime, optimize network structure.
