With the exploring of non-renewable resources like petrol and coals, revolutions of techniques and the development of global economy, the lack of renewable resources has been a significant problem threatening the future of human beings. Recently, in China, construction industry has achieved a obvious development. As a result, the energy consumptions of processes of constructing and operating has accounted for 30% of total energy consumption in China. In order to combine the solar photovoltaic system(SPS) with buildings and to standardize designs of SPS, the Chinese government has drew relevant codes of SPS. The combination of SPS and buildings has positive effects on decreasing the consumption of non-renewable resources and total energy and on optimizing the energy structure. Moreover, it is definite that Building integrated Photovoltaic(BIPV) will be the trend of green building and intelligent building. with the development of BIPV technique, people are more likely to concentrate on the price and the environment-friendly characteristic of this technique. However, to improve the utilization rate of solar energy in intelligent buildings, this paper intends to design a two-axis solar tracking system based on STM32.The main functionality of this system realizes the synchronous tracking of solar energy by the photovoltaic panels on the intelligent buildings, and increases the utilization efficiency of solar energy. This study has identified a scheme combining sun trajectory tracking mode with the photoelectric tracking mode. the sun trajectory tracking mode is based on the law of sun to calculate the real position of sun relative to the ground while the photoelectric tracking mode applies photocell to induce the change of sunlight and applies controller to track the sun. In order to realize judgments of weather condition and tracking of the sun, this paper designs tracking program in two ways. The main contents of this system include the sensing unit design of solar tracking control system, the tracking mechanism, an algorithm to determine the position of the sun, the implementation of STM32 host controller hardware and software features and the LabVIEW computer interface design of monitoring system in the duty office of the construction. Finally, the experimental testing shows that the tracking system can track the sun precisely and automatically during daylight hours, and realize the remote real-time monitoring to the system running for building attendant and higher solar energy receiver efficiency of the intelligent building.
