Service discovery is an important part in Service-Oriented Architecture. With continuous development of Information Technology and wide spread of networks, a large number of services and the related various kinds of service properties have been published on the internet. How to discover the most required service for users has become one of the serious problems. On the other hand, researchers have paid much attention to how to discover the desired services through users’ personalized requirements. Users’ personalized requirements have become one of the important issues needing to be addressed during the process of service discovery. To address the problems above, this thesis investigates into the service discovery methods in large-scale service environments and proposes the user requirements oriented service discovery methods, including the introduction on a ontology-based users requirements description method and a service discovery method based on user latent intentions. Main work is listed as follows:Firstly, this thesis studies how to describe the users’ personalized requirements. We describe user requirement preferences concepts by building the user characteristic information ontology, and then build user characteristic information description through the achieved user information, so we can build the set of user requirement description, completing a formalized description of user requirements. Thus, we can improve the existing heterogeneity problem bentween service decription language and user requriments description, which will reduce the efficiency of service discovery.Secondly, this thesis discusses the service discovery methods by user requirements. A conception of User Latent Intentions is defined to express personalized service requirements of users in service discovery. User Latent Intentions consist of User Preference Intentions and User Herd Intentions, in which user preference intention is put forward to help express the relation between user preferences and to decrease the number of similar candidate services, and user herd intention is introduced to solve the problems when users have no or few experiences in finding desired services. Finally, this thesis designs and implements the user requriment oriented service discovery simulation prototype system and application demonstration based on the user requirement oriented service discovery theory discussed above. System implementation is analyzed in details in the process of demand analysis, general design and module design, and based on a case study we illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of this method proposed in this thesis.
