Although the chip production technology has been improved in the recent years, and the large-scale commercial boom has appeared in WSN, the security problems limited its further development in the fields which exist sensitive data. Therefore, certain security technology needs to be studied to ameliorate this situation.This paper is mainly concentrates on the data encryption algorithm technology research. The symmetric encryption algorithm which relatively saves resources is more suitable for resource constrained resources. Considering the cost of the single node, it is also unfavorable to increase the hardware encryption module. Based on the two points above, this paper will focus on the study of symmetric encryption algorithm on WSN.The main content of the first part is to collate and summarize symmetry encryption algorithm on the WSN. And finally, it finds Advanced Encryption Standard(AES), a kind of symmetric encryption algorithm whose performance has been very outstanding but there is still room for improvement.The second part of the paper is mainly to improve AES. In this part, the author puts forward Lighten Advanced Encryption Standard(LAES). Its main contents are as follows:1. To enhance the complexity of S box, and then improve its safety performance.2. To streamline the original algorithm rounds of the 10 round encryption.3. Using the global look-up table method to optimize the algorithm execution substantially.4. Using the method of exhaustion, linear cryptanalysis and differential cryptanalysis to compare LAES algorithm and AES algorithm respectively.The analysis results show that the safety performance of the LAES algorithm can completely meet the requirement of the WSN confidential communication.5. Using the theory analysis and hardware node actual test to compare the advantages and disadvantages of AES algorithm and LAES algorithm.The results of the comparison on the aspects of the node storage space and time prove that performance of the LAES algorithm is excellent.It is very suitable for WSN data encryption and has great practical value.
