Being an extremely important part of the Enterprise management, warehouse management controls an enterprise’s production and marketing. Handling warehouse management procedure effectively is an important goal which enterprise managers have been pursuing for a long time. Before the using of computers, people manage the warehouse mainly based on manual methods which are inefficient and error-prone. As the company expanding their sizes and volume of business, the drawbacks of this kind of management are more and more obvious. With the invention of modern computers, inventory management systems emerged consequently. By making good use of computers’ high computing capacity, the managers find a good way to make up the drawback of manual management, which achieves a rapid, accurate, error-free processing of data. It adapts to today’s competitive environment, greatly improves the enterprises’ efficiency, and standardizes the business processes. This sort of new method achieves the goals of scientific, intelligent and automatic enterprise management. Warehouse management system not only efficiently and accurately manages the enterprise goods to reduce inventory costs, but also provides a lot of information such as market conditions, product sales and delivery. All of these facilitate managers to plan enterprise direction. Therefore, warehouse management system, which is essential for an enterprise, is no less beneficial than improving the production efficiency and other means.Based on the analysis for a company’s warehouse management needs and using PowerBuilder and SQL Server 2008 as developing platform, we design and develop a company’s warehouse management system. We make an integrated use of software engineering, database, operations research, management science and other aspects of knowledge. A detailed needs analysis stage, a system design stage and a system implementation stage also be involved in our development procedure. The system includes the following modules: storage management, library management, stock search, stock counting, information search, maintenance, and report management. These modules are serving for all phases of business which include intelligent storage, output, clients’ information search, supplier information search, products’ information fast query, stock search, report of sales information, output information and lost report generation and so on. Finally, based on scientific software testing theories, methods and designed test cases, we test the system from the angles of whether it can be installed and function, whether it can run securely and show a good performance. The result shows that the system can completely satisfy the enterprise’s daily needs. Moreover, the system greatly improved the efficiency of the enterprise management and enhanced the competitive capability of the enterprise.
