Warehouse Management System, as the core of material management systems, is an indispensable part in an enterprise, and its content is of vital importance for the decision-makers and the managers of an enterprise. Traditional manual mode is always employed to manage warehouses, which is inefficient and difficult to seek, renovate, and maintain the material in the warehouse. Nowadays, the work of storage and inventory control has become diversified and complicated so it is quite difficult to dispose by means of the traditional manual mode. What's more, if the goods cannot be reasonably stocked, checked and delivered, excess stock will be caused, delivery time be postponed and operational cost be also increased, which will eventually result in the loss of customers.The management of warehouse is an important business of the HuaNing Mineral Group. There are more than 5,000 types of material required in the coal production and other related work,8,000 varieties of inventory. In addition, more than 1,000 kinds of material purchased need putting in storage every month and plenty of goods are taken out per day to meet the demand of the production and each work in mining area. Therefore, the application of Warehouse Management System should reduce the labor intensity of relevant workers, achieve reasonable storage and purchase of material, improve the timeliness, accuracy, and security in dealing with the information about the warehouse management and furthermore provide mighty assistance and support for routine work of the administrators of the warehouse management, At the same time, it must be applicable to the construction of the material supply management digitalizing project in HuaNing Mineral Group.Warehouse Management System consists of 11 modules, that is, the material inspection information management, the invoice and inventory inspection information management, the outbound material information management, the material checking information management, the material inventory information analysis, the material inventory information inquiry, the material inventory information management, the material current account management, management of the material returned to the warehouse, gathering of the total number of outbound material and that of incoming material, among which the each module has many specific functions to handle the material in the warehouse. This system is helpful for the enterprise to administrate the warehouse in every regard. Every staff involved can enter the system by virtue of the username and password, and then finish the corresponding work. They are assigned different work rights and the system administrator'right is the most powerful.This paper briefly analyzes the existing problems in the current warehouse management, and then contacts the actual situation, and finally moves to the design of Warehouse Management System, which adopts advanced technologies such as middleware, component, and modular design. The system is based on the large database of SQLSERVER and follows the norm of J2EE. The java programming language and java server technology are employed and it selects Windows Server, the latest version, as the operating system. Besides, three layers of B/S structure and the modular design are also adopted. The adoption of all the technologies is very convenient for users to enter the system and manage it and greatly improves the safety and reliability of the system.This system has been applied to the routine work of warehouse management in HuaNing Mineral Group. It has realized the function of warehouse management, lessened the cost, decreased the risk, speeded up the implementation schedule, increased the return of investment, and reduced the labor amount in the department of warehouse management. Consequently, the system has improved the management, scheduling and resource allocation between all the links in the company and the whole supply chain. It has made the warehouse management more reasonable and more normative and meanwhile, the managers in the group and the related personnel in each coal mine and department express their satisfaction at the operation of the system.
