In order to get a building layout image, see-through-building radar is used to detect building with the method of synthetic aperture. Building layout image has a great application value in some areas such as anti-terrorism, rescue, street-battle. Building layout imaging is the research hot spot in the field of building penetrating detection radar system at home and abroad.This paper focuses on several key problems, using the see-through-building radar to get a high-quality building layout image in practical application, such as selection and demonstration of the detection modes, inaccurate wall position and the image intensity attenuation in the multi-story building layout image, optimization of the building layout image. To solve these problems, a series of studies have been done. Main work includes:1. The necessity and significance of the research of the detection modes have been discussed. The mode of the building and the scene has been established by using the XFDTD software. The correction and validity of multichannel and the multiple perspective detection have been demonstrated.2. In the building layout imaging, the inaccurate wall positions and the image intensity difference between front wall and back wall caused by unknown wall penetration are serious problems. In this paper, a new algorithm has been proposed to correct the wall position and reduce the image intensity difference between walls.3. Based on gray linear transformation and frequency domain filtering, several image optimization methods of building layout have been presented to deal with the problems of the cavities and burrs in wall images and the clutter spots caused by the phase distortion of unknown wall penetration. Combining these methods, we get a high-quality building layout image.4. The quality of building layout image is affected seriously by the grating lobes when the element spacing of array is bigger than half a wavelength. Based on the opposite characteristics of the low-frequency phase change of wall image area and the high-frequency phase change of grating lobes area, in this paper, a low-pass frequency filter has been designed properly to reduce the grating lobes. The simulation results demonstrate the frequency characteristic of phase change and the experiment results validate the feasibility of the low-pass filter in suppressing grating lobes.The research on the technology of the building layout imaging in this paper combines the application requirements closely, and all of the relevant algorithms are proposed through strict theoretical deduction and demonstrated by a series of simulations and experiments. The work in this paper lay a solid foundation for the subsequent research and application.
