The implementation of direction-finding algorithm needs to be improved,although some high resolution algorithms have been put forward, these algorithms are often too complex to be implemented. Meanwhile the existing localization algorithm can’t meet the need of localization accuracy, some other factors such as direction-finding accuracy, station layout and the geographical environment need to be considered. In addition the existing software cannot be directly applied to the equipment in headmaster’s study, and some useful functions need to be developed.The main idea of this paper lies in three aspects: first is to apply a direction-finding algorithm which has higher resolution into the program, second is to research how to achieve higher precision based on the existing localization algorithm,third is to design and improve the software of direction-finding positioning system.MUSIC algorithm is a member of the spatial spectrum estimation algorithm which has ultra high resolution. In order to reduce the complexity of MUSIC algorithm,an algorithm without Eigen decomposition has been put forward.In the research of localization algorithm, firstly, the factors associated with positioning accuracy has been analyzed, the analysis is mainly about the uncertain area of localization, the maximum position error and GDOP. Secondly, based on the research of how to improve the algorithm of multi-station localization, a least square algorithm of multi-station localization in the spherical coordinate system has been put forward. Thirdly, the research of three-dimensional localization has been done, which includes principle and performance of the algorithmThe work of software design can be divided into two parts: The overall design of software and the improvement of software function. In detail, the overall design of software contains demand analysis, structure design and thread Settings. The improvement of software function contains the encapsulation of spectrum and electric advection display controls, the expansion of GIS function and the localization technique of mobile direction-finding equipment.
