High power broadband coupled cavity pulse TWT with broadband, large power and high efficiency has extensive application in the defense equipment and People’s Daily life. The paper based on the CAD simulation technology for the microwave tube was carried out by simulation and optimization design of the whole high-power broadband coupled cavity pulse TWT, gives the concrete implementation plan, and finish the corresponding be assembly and testing, the measured results show that the CAD simulation technology can guide the traveling wave tube is designed.Firstly, the paper using CAD technology to optimization design the TWT optical structure, simulate the optical structure of the electron gun. The slow wave dispersion cold characteristics of the circuit design, meet the requirements of slow-wave circuit structure are obtained. The TWT parameters such as power, gain and efficiency were analyzed by using CAD technology under the large signal condition. The paper analyzed the application of the ceramics with the different materials of transmitting energy window. The paper studied how to improve the electronic injection flow rate, designed the magnetic focusing system that could satisfy the requirement of electronic injection flow rate by optimizing the structure of magnetic focusing system. In the process of the collector design, studied the reflux of electron, again through the design focus inhibits electronic regurgitation, not only improve the TWT electronic injection flow rate, and reduces the power consumption of slow wave circuit, reduced the heat dissipation.Secondly also analyzes the reliability of the TWT, analyses the work reliability of gun in 5 minutes preheating and under the condition of application, such as vibration and shock, then make the corresponding optimization adjustment according to the results of the analysis. Analyzed the window of four kinds of materials in the thermal state in the process of work, then chooses a transmitting energy window that meets the requirement and can be easy to implement. Also, analyzes the heat of the two-stage step-down collector, and optimize the structure of the heat collector, got the cooling characteristics of a good collection.Finally, we actual assembly the TWT for the design optimization, verify the feasibility of TWT design using CAD technology by the measured of TWT. Test results show that the electrical parameters of the tube to meet the requirement of technical indicators, and at the same time also shows that as a top-down design tool, CAD simulation technology can guide the design of TWT. It can not only greatly shorten the development period of TWT and also can reduce the development cost using CAD technology design TWT.
