Transmission line is the most important part in large grid, it connects the user, power station, substations and distribution equipment as a whole. The safe and stable operation of large grid is under the premise of transmission lines’ safe and stable operation. Safe and stable operation of transmission lines are related to whether the user can use high quality electricity. At present, there are many mistakes of transmission line data and often manually manage, so the management of transmission line is inefficiency. With the rapid development of information technology in grid, the electricity sector need to establish a transmission line operating data management system to meet the management of the transmission line staff.In this paper, transmission line operating data management system is the main object of study. We highlight the object-oriented design ideas, using UML(Unified Modeling Language)modeling object-oriented technology, the status of the development of open-source database technology and open-source database management system. In the system design phase, we made detailed environmental requirements, performance requirements and functional requirements analysis. And we analyzed the character of system data and system function in transmission line operating data management system. Establishing a functional module of the system through needs analysis. And there are five modules, line file management module, line inspection management module, equipment testing management module, line maintenance module, line query module. In the database design phase, we introduce the knowledge of database and use the software Power Designer to establish conceptual data model, physical data model and logical architecture model. At the same time, we studied how to automatically establish the structure of the database.We use the component technology to realize the transmission line operating data management system. At the same time, we also demonstrate a prototype system implementation code and the system registry main interface, the system main interface, file management module interface, patrol management module interface, maintenance management interface, the device management module interface, testing module interface, query statistics module interface. Through the functionality and performance testing, each function indicator and performance indicator of system design was comprehensively examined. In other words, functional and performance testing has covered all of the business processes. Although some modules flawed, it could basically meet the system performance requirements after repairing. On the whole of the system, transmission line operating data management system basically meet the various demands made by the user.
