The current severe traffic safety situation of highway in China has become a serious social problem. As black spots, dangerous sections on the highway are where more than 80% of traffic accidents occurred. Traffic safety conditions of the dangerous sections therefore have direct influence on the safety level of the entire road network and are key to management of traffic safety. In this paper, the author aims to build a set of integrated traffic safety early warning system with information collection, processing, evaluation, and release for dangerous sections on the highway so as to avoid traffic accidents, improve the safety level of highway and ensure the safety of people on the road.First of all, the author in this paper has made analysis and conclusion about the theoretical research on the existing traffic safety early warning system framework. On this basis, the author has made further detailing and improvement for the traffic safety early warning system framework and put forward that the early warning system should be composed of information collection subsystem, information processing and information release subsystem based on GIS. Besides, relatively detailed elaboration has been made in this paper on the design principles, early warning criteria and alert degree classification of the early warning system.Secondly, a reasonable index system of early warning information collection has been built to acquire early warning information for the early warning model in the system. What’s more, the author has made analysis and research aiming at the aforementioned acquisition index on the requirements, methods and technology of information acquisition as well as the layout of the information acquisition detector.Thirdly, the author has conducted a focused research on data processing technology after the information acquisition, mainly including automatic summarization and preprocessing of data and construction of the safety evaluation model and database, among which detailed study has been carried out on the evaluation index system and evaluation methods for traffic safety state so as to build an accurate and effective evaluation index system and evaluation model of traffic safety.At last, the author has made an introduction about the composition of information release subsystem, how to conduct reasonable release of early warning information, layout of the release facilities and how to release corresponding early warning information in accordance with the alert degree.The contents, methods and conclusion of research in the paper can provide certain theoretical basis and technical guidance for the management of traffic safety and application of early warning system on dangerous sections on the highway, which is of great practical significance and application value.
