With the rapid development of Internet technology, information exchange through Internet has been part of people’s work and life, and become the most important method of exchanging information. WLAN is computer local area network with wireless medium. As an important WLAN access technology, WiFi become indispensable in smart terminal, through smart terminals with WiFi, people can exchange information anytime anywhere, which greatly enhanced the convenience of people’s life.This paper focuses on the realization of WiFi network on intelligent terminal with Android 2.3 system running on Cortex-A8 platform. This terminal connected to the Internet via WiFi to achieve quick and convenient application scenarios of information exchange. The main content of this paper are:(1) Study of the overall architecture of Android system and summary about the requirement of WiFi subsystem. Built the development environment, and compiled Little Kernel, Linux kernel and the Android system.(2) Study of the main features of CPU TCC8801 and module APM6981, design of WLAN related hardware circuitry.(3) Study of architecture of WiFi device driver on this platform and interface protocols and working mechanism of SDIO, and analysis of the mechanism and principle of SD/MMC/SDIO controller, the transplant of master driver SD/MMC/SDIO controller, and completion of the compilation of WiFi hardware drivers.(4) Analysis of the principle mechanisms of adaptation layer and linker of WiFi hardware abstraction layer, completed the transplant of WiFi connection adaptation layer and wpa_supplicant.(5) Completion of the generated system image into target board, and verification of WiFi networking capabilities of target board, and completion of test on WiFi performance on the target board and analysis.This paper verified WiFi networking capabilities of intelligent terminals, the rate can reach 15.9Mbps under limited network environment, and packet loss rate stayed steadily under 1.7% while under the peak rate, basically meet the application requirements of engineering practice.
