Visible light communication (VLC) is a new technology that intergrates communication and illumination. It has the potential to replace the traditional radio communication in some special application scenarios. The need of indoor wireless location is growing up in recent years. The application of indoor VLC on wireless positioning technology has attracted the attention of researchers. This thesis study the indoor VLC positioning technology based on Image sensor and RSSI.This thesis manly gives some basic research on the main technology such as LED array’s layout, channel model and modulation characteristics. VLC system has image and non-image two kinds of receiving module, and we proposed indoor VLC positioning technology based on Image Sensor and indoor VLC positioning technology based on RSSI. After that, grid layout of LED beacon nodes on the influence of indoor positioning accuracy was discussed. The main contents are presented as follows.Firstly, set up indoor visible light communication model. Simulate the received optical power, the distribution of illuminance and SNR. The minimum illuminance is 3211x, the maximum is 1085 1x. The sufficient illuminance, is 300 to 1500 1x by ISO, is obtained in all the places of the room. The minimum SNR is 12 dB and the maximum SNR is 22dB meet the basic requirement of communication (13.6dB).Secondly, based on the study of optical wireless channel, We analysis localization algorithm in indoor VLC positioning system based on Image Sensor. Simulation results showed that when the pixels in one line is 3000, the positioning error less than 8cm. And in the system based on RSSI, the positioning error less than 7cm when the variable factor n=0.6626.Indoor VLC positioning technology has many superiority in positioning precision, algorithm complexity and the cost of localization compare with other traditional RF communication positioning technology.Finally, proposed the grid layout of LED beacon nodes on the influence of indoor positioning accuracy. Put forward a new cellular model of the grid layout based on equilateral triangle cell. Analysis result show that the property improved 30% in the beacon nodes correctly selection.
