With the development of 3G mobile communication network, the network speed is increased nearly a hundredfold than the 2G era jumping from Kb to Mb age. People in our country surfing Internet with mobile phones get an excellent experience. What’s more, smartphones are upgrading constantly with better performance and richer function, which promoting Internet business and bringing explosive growth in mobile data traffic. To solve the problem of 3G Network coverage, UMTS900 technology has been gradually popularized worldwide and several operators have been deployed UMTS900 network in terms of network coverage and achieved good results. This thesis mainly analyzes the competition and challenge of 3G network development of Yunnan Unicom, and expounds the necessity of introducing UMTS900 technology from three aspects: market development, competition and network investment. Through the strengths and weaknesses analyses of UMTS900 technology, we conduct field test verification followed two key points in the network coverage features and GSM network frequency refarming scheme. At the same time, we give statistical analysis of the user terminal problems, and access according to the experimental analysis demonstrating the feasibility of UMTS900. According to UMTS900 features and test situation, coupled with the status in Yunnan Province, we propose Yunnan 4 dimensions UMTS900 network planning methods, covering the scene from the network, the complaint needs, market demand and GSM. We complete the first phase of the network Yunnan UMTS900 planning through a comprehensive assessment. When UMTS900 network construction is completed, it effectively improves the UMTS900 network running quality as a whole by engineering optimization and project optimization. Carry out the single station optimization, the optimization of cluster and the entire network optimization according to the standard. Our subject optimization focus on the improvement of network access, holdover and mobile performance. We also propose the UMTS900 area of GSM network optimization scheme to improve GSM network performance after frequency refarming and avoid the loss of user perception caused by deterioration of the GSM network. Finally, the thesis proposes an outlook for the subsequent evolution of the network based on the development of UMTS900. |
