Passive Optical Network(PON) has been one of the most popular access technologies while the popular GPON and EPON cannot meet the needs for bandwidth of end users. The XG-PON has been proposed to achieve higher bandwidth and more stable access strategy. This thesis presents a comprehensive research on XG PON based on TWDM PON.Firstly, this thesis gives a brief introduction of XG PON technical scheme, a modified architecture of TWDM PON is proposed. The modified TWDM PON can be upgraded with the increase of bandwidth, load balancing in different ODNs, and achieve the purpose of saving power consumption. Focusing on the dynamic bandwidth allocation(DBA) algorithms in XG-PON, an improved upstream wavelength and bandwidth allocation scheme for TWDM PON is presented. The improved algorithm is used to overcome the problems of high delay and low utilization rate, caused by the modulation between different wavelengths frequently. The improved plan puts forward a kind of QoS supporting wavelength bandwidth allocation algorithm, which adopts different wavelength bandwidth allocation algorithm for each type of data, reduces the numbers of each ONU modulation wavelength. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation results show that improved method can effectively reduce the number of wavelength modulations, improve wavelength bandwidth utilization and reduce the transmission delay, etc.
