Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is composed of a large number of nodes. Those nodes can sense independently and calculate with wireless communication function.WSN has large node’s numbers as well as power consumption. A variety of key technologies has been formed on WSN, routing protocol is one of them. As the energy of the nodes in the WSN is limited, in order to prolong the life of network, the effectiveness transmission of data and the higher efficiency of network is required when design the routing protocol.This thesis summarizes and classifies the traditional WSN routing protocol, then introduces the principle and structure of the switched-beam directional antennas model, the direction and communication distance is adjustable in switched-beam directional antennas model. Switched-beam directional antennas model shows great advantages in energy consumption and anti-communication interference.The emergence of directional antenna model brought new ideas for the research of WSN routing protocol, but the disadvantage is the threat to network connectivity and multiple path selection and so on. Through some classic theoretical study of routing protocol, this thesis deeply analyzes three problems:how to select the emission direction of the nodes, how to build topological structure and how to deal with the mobile sink nodes.This thesis uses the switched-beam directional antennas model, puts forward a solution based on directional information and embedding cross-layer ideas into routing protocol, improved the network transmission capacity and reduce the average energy consumption of node on the basis of normal connectivity of network. Finally, with the simulation comparison of the classic algorithm and new routing algorithm respectively, proved the validity of the routing algorithm RPSBA(Routing protocol for WSN with Switched-Beam Antennas) in this paper..
