Instant messaging system is mainly discussed in this thesis the design principle, design idea and design process in detail. Start from the status quo of instant messaging system analysis, this thesis expounds on the development of instant messaging system at home and abroad, and then the demand for the public security department of instant messaging system is analyzed, the public security departments instant messaging system is given in the overall design scheme and architecture, and finally gives the system the detailed design method and testing the system, the full text mainly includes messages, voice chat, video chat and file transfer key module and the message record keeping of SQL Server2008 database.System software from the calibration to the system as a whole unit tests for your basic needs, basic is no problem between each function module which has no effect, rarely appear mistake, the final version is good software can run normally, each module can be within the normal time to complete its corresponding function, and the response time is within the requirements.
