As virtual battlefield based on digital earth showed more and more advantages in military training, which gradually leading the trend of researching the key techniques in it. Firstly, in order to enhance the virtual battlefield realistic, it will need a massive terrain data to finish the precise and real-time 3d reconstruction of the digital earth,therefore it is necessary to look for efficient methods of terrain data organization to ease the contradiction between massive terrain data and real-time terrain rendering. Secondly,the state of simulation combat entities in virtual battlefield is changing, which needs to communicate with each other constantly so as to maintain a consistent virtual battle scenes. Therefore the application of network collaborative technologies in the virtual battlefield has become a hot research topic.Under such a background, this thesis will mainly study terrain data organization and network coordinate techniques in the virtual battlefield, then try to apply them to large-scale terrain real-time visualization, flight simulation and collaborative plotting.The main work and research achievements include four aspects, as the following:(1) Build a solution of data organization based on the terrain pyramid mode which includes the topography and pyramid data organization model based on researching spherical terrain data partitioning methods and level of detail technology, the method of using the model to complete terrain data organization and the scheme to store and manage that data after organization.(2) Apply the terrain data organization solution to complete the organization of digital earth massive terrain data in virtual battlefield based on digital earth, then use that to do visualization test and data analysis, which checks the rationality of the terrain data organization solution.(3) Study the key technologies about network collaboration, then try to apply them to flight simulation in the virtual battlefield. Combining network collaborative technologies with the flight simulation based on data driven, it studies the flight data synchronization and flight simulation algorithm, then proposes and designs the network collaborative architecture for multi-machine flight simulation, finally realizes the effect of multi-crafts flying collaboratively through network.(4) Apply the key techniques of network collaboration to situation plotting in the virtual battlefield. Mainly studies the working principle of collaborative plotting,plotting data synchronization, collaborative perception, conflict resolution, design the network collaborative plotting agreement, the client and server, etc. Finally realizes network collaborative plotting under the environment of the C/S.
