With the rapid development of e-commerce and the aggravation of the market competition, the requirements for logistics transportation have become more and more high. Response speed, transport quality, delivery time, transport costs and other factors bring huge challenge to the traditional logistics transport enterprises. The traditional management and scheduling has been difficult to meet the requirements of modern logistics, so the advanced transportation management system has become the informatization pillar of each modern logistics enterprise.Transportation management system(TMS) is applied to transportation enterprises, it has the following chief functions: order management, scheduling and distribution, the optimization of distribution routes, transport status tracking, personnel management, vehicle management, cost settlement, statistical report and so on. The adoption of this system will reduce the transport costs of transportation enterprises greatly, and it can make the management much more convenient, it can also provide the decision support for the managers or decision makers.This dissertation takes the transportation management system as the main object of study, it analyses the business process of transportation enterprises in real life, it also analyses the advantages and disadvantages of the domestic and foreign various transportation management systems, and moreover, it compares the design ideas, emphases, business process and functions of the domestic mainstream transportation management systems. This dissertation accomplishes transportation management system by the adoption of OO(object oriented) technology, relational database, the mature system architecture model and the theory of software engineering. The chief study contents are as follows:1) The research of business process of transportation enterprises.It makes deep investigation and study in the business process of logistics transportation enterprises, and it also analyses the staffing situation involved in business process, such as logistics personnel, management personnel, drivers, rear services personnel and so on. Based on the collection of the business process situation of logistics enterprises which are different in size and type, and then the universal transportation business process can be got after analyzing and extracting.2) The research of optimization of distribution routes.Modern logistics faces fierce competition, in the precondition of satisfying the customer needs, logistics enterprises must reduce the logistics cost as far as possible, so it is necessary to find a balance between cost and service quality. The optimization of distribution routes have been the focus in the theory of logistics transport. This dissertation uses k-Nearest Neighbor algorithm(KNN) and Insertion Sort to divide the complex distribution network into limited distribution regions. Everyday, according to kinds of factors such as the distribution volume requested by the client, loading volume of vehicles, distribution routes, mileages and so on, it can supply the optimal loading scheme and driving routes.3) The research of the basic technology of software development.This part mainly includes the study of theory of basic technology related to the procedures of the development of management information system, the procedures involve the analyses of requirements, system design, coding, testing, deployment and so on. Especially, it represents the contents of B/S system architecture, J2 EE technology platform, SQLserver2005 relational database, test theory and so on.
