Sharp image is achieved only in the depth of field with one single focal point since traditional optical imaging techniques may lead to loss of light information. Light field photography makes up for these defects in principles of traditional optical photography by recording more information of the scene taken. Besides, it can also solve such problems as three-dimensional scene reconstruction, obscures due to defocus refocusing and multiple focusing object points by computational imaging technology. Moreover, based on the micro-lens array, the light-field photography system also has advantages as small volume, light weight and being easy to carry and so on.As a result, this system there is a very large prospects in practical applications.Light field photography incorporates hardware design of optical system and the software algorithms of signal processing. Since the complexities of the light imaging system and the limits of the experiment conditions, light imaging systems with good performance have a high requirement on the system framework building. Besides, difficulties in obtaining original data often make it harder to do the digital processing in all kinds of light photography systems, which are bad for researches on methods of signal processing and analysis. Based on the light field photography algorithms, advantages in light field information capturing of light field system based on the micro-lens array are shown in this paper. In addition, through studies on light field photography theory, simulation and information processing, kinds of performances and parameters of the system are analyzed and reconstruction of specified images are obtained after processing the four-dimensional light field information.At first, this paper analyzes the potential depth of field, range of field of view and sampling step along with parameters optimization in simulation for digital light field photography system. Then, a simulation model of digital light field photography system based on micro-lens array is built on the MATLAB platform, and is used to verify simulation results. The design of this simulation model is based on geometrical optics principles. It can provide basic simulation system for various kinds of light field photography system based on micro-lens array. Since the information of the light field of the same scene in the shooting range is invariable and the images of different focuses change only when the position of the selected aperture plane or image plan is changed.Therefore, when the coordinate transformation of light field is done, sharp images of different focal point are obtained after light field photography computing. The four-dimension light field data obtained from simulation is processed basing on the theory of Fourier slice photography theorem and focusing at any position is realized.
